Every consignment is checked against the house register before it is catalogued. Payment is held by Auctioneer until the lot is delivered.
Catalogue note
One methuselah (6 litres), in original wooden case, from the walled 1.85-hectare Chardonnay parcel in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger that Krug has bottled separately since 1979.
1995 is the vintage that persuaded the doubters: taut, saline and utterly unhurried, with the chalk of the site reading straight through the wine. Large formats age more slowly still, and a methuselah of Clos du Mesnil is effectively a wine that has not yet begun.
Level and colour excellent, capsule and labels pristine, case intact with its original documentation. Stored in Krug's own conditions until 2011 and under professional bond since.
Provenance
Ex-cellar, Krug, Reims; private purchase 2011; under bond, London, since.
Condition
Mint
As issued. No signs of handling or display wear.
Condition reports are the house’s opinion, offered in good faith. Lots are sold as viewed; the absence of a remark does not imply the absence of a fault.
